Playing Their Part

Lisa and Jim Watters

Lisa and Jim Watters, MPTF legacy donors

Jim Watters has had Hollywood in his blood since birth. His father, George, worked in the industry for nearly four decades in television postproduction. His brother, George II, is a two-time Oscar winner for Sound Effects. Jim retired in 2011, as the president and general manager of Universal City Studios Operation Group. His wife, Lisa, is also a Universal Studios veteran, and former theatrical production coordinator.

Jim became familiar with MPTF's mission and services while working at Universal through his colleagues, Lew Wasserman and Dan Slusser, both Universal Studio executives and board members of MPTF. These relationships inspired Jim to become more involved, and his contributions increased when he saw firsthand how MPTF helped so many industry members, whether they needed social services, financial assistance, or in the case of his parents, residential living. Jim became a member of the Heartbeat of Hollywood Golf Classic, the NBC/Universal Holiday Party for residents and various projects at the Country Home.

While Jim and Lisa now enjoy their post-Hollywood life in Durango, Colorado, they think of MPTF and wanted to ensure their support could continue. By leaving a legacy gift to MPTF in their estate plan they can easily ensure they leave their mark on MPTF while continuing their support of MPTF's mission and their industry peers.

We thank Jim and Lisa for their generous legacy gift, and for continuing our proud community tradition of taking care of our own.
